General information on Kyoto Protocol |
On the 24th of November 2005 the Republic of Belarus became a full Party to the Kyoto Protocol to the
UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. In accordance with the assumed obligations the Republic of Belarus
should not permit greenhouse gas emission planned volumes exceed over the period of the Kyoto Protocol obligations.
In order to comply with the decree of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus of December, 30 2005 ¹1582 «About implementation of provisions of the Kyoto Protocol
to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change» in JSC «Belgorkhimprom» there was created the Ecological Monitoring Center,
engaging in implementation of the Kyoto Protocol principal provisions in the “Belneftehim” concern organizations.
At the present time the Center is working hard in the following directions:
- search of foreign investors and cooperation with them;
- project proposal development within the framework of the Kyoto Protocol;
- development of project proposals on the voluntary greenhouse gas emission reduction mechanism;
- advanced training of the concern organization specialists;
- study of joint implementation project development experience;
- carrying out of information activity on the Kyoto Protocol questions.
We are ready to cooperate with foreign investors on realization of joint implementation projects and projects on voluntary
greenhouse gas emission reduction in petrochemical complex organizations.
We are waiting for our potential partners’ offers on:
- adoption of new energy-efficient, ecological technologies in all application domains;
- employment of up-to-date technologies of wind energy, solar heat, sun power engineering and biomass use;
- latest scientific research in the field of power engineering and energy efficiency;
- joint implementation of projects within the framework of the Kyoto Protocol and voluntary greenhouse gas emission reduction mechanism.
